| About the China Folklore Photographic Association |
| HISTORY | |
| Mr. Shen Che, an explorer-photographer started his tour of
visiting the minorities area in China in 1980 by bicycle. He was moved with
their traditional life-style and strong enthusiasm, as well he collected
a great number of pictures after some reportages. Along with the traditional culture changing and vanishing fast, Shen realized it is not enough if only he himself do the documentary work. In 1993, he set up the China Folklore Photographic Association (CFPA). In order to call on more photographers to record, photograph and preserve the human civilization. |

| MEMBERSHIP | |
| Up to now, CFPA has had some 30,000 members and 130 branches
all over China. It is a young photographic organization, but the biggest.
There are four degrees of membership including: (1) Member, who is maybe a professional, an amateur, or just be interested in photography. (2) Licentiateship, who has alreay had basic photographic skills and good understanding on folk-culture. (3) Associateship, who has high level in folk-cultural photography and theory. (4) Fellowship, is the highest distinction of CFPA. It will be awarded to the photographer who has outstanding achievement in folk-cultural photography and theory. Principle CFPA's philosophy is to explore, preserve, study the changing and vanishing folk customs, and carry forward them through photography. In order to protect the human cultural heritage and promote understanding and communication between different nations. |

| (1) Publishing the CFPA journals. (2) Providing the photography related information for members. (3) Introducing the knowledge of folk custom and photography through our website (www.china-fpa.org). (4) Organizing the photographic tour around some interesting area. (5) Sponsoring or co-sponsoring the photo contest and exhibition. (6) Publishing photo album and catalog. (7) Arranging the discount hotels and restaurants for members during they going outside. (8) Offering the special Card for members' photo-reporting |

| President: Mr. Shen
Che, an explorer-photographer who have traveled around China and
visited 51 minorities area. Vice presidents: Mr. Xia Fang who is in charge of the member developing and structure building. Mr. Xu Weiben who is in charge of the member developing and structure building. Mr. Chen Changyu who is in charge of the member developing and structure building. Mr. Ni Xuelin who is in charge of the training of CFPA's members. Ms. Jin Yan who is in charge of the international exchange program. Mr. Deng Qiyao who is in charge of the theory support. Mr. Ou Jin who is in charge of the photo market. Mr. Huang Jingyue who is in charge of the fundraising. The National Members Congress opens once four years. The new presiden, vice presidents and member of council just be selected at the end of 2003. |
