"Cuo" means a group houses or a manor in south China. The Honglin Cuo took the lumber merchant Huang Zuobin and his elder son Honglin 28 years to build up the house with 17832.28sq.m. in Minqing Town since 1795. There are 35 living rooms, 25 small gardens, 30 dooryards, 36 high walls for fire protection, 4 wells, 13 gates and 666 rooms.
The houses were designed strictly with exact correspondence of form and constituent configuration on opposite sides of a dividing line. Everything indicates that it was designed in one time. In addition, not only the houses but also the carvings were protected perfectly.
