Chaoxian nationality has its own language both character instead of only language as some other minorities in China.
Chaoxian has migrated to the border cities and towns of northern China from Korea, the neighboring country since the end of 17th century. The latest record told there are 1,920,000 people of the Chaoxian in three provinces of Jilin, Heilongjiang and Liaoning. But most of them live in the Yanbian Chaoxian Autonomous Region of southeast Jilin province.
Changbai Mountain, a mountain famous for its great forest and abundant natural resources is just located in this area.

Chaoxian people love the color of white is considered as clean and simple. Woman's costume includes a short garment and a long plaited skirt. Man's wearing includes a short jacket and loose trousers.

Besides the general festivals of Chinese, their special celebrations in family comprise the birthday of a one-year-old baby, the birthday of a sixty-year-old person and the anniversary of a sixty-year marriage. Relatives and friends will be invited to join the above ceremonies and share the happiness.

Their favorite foods are pickle made of cabbage and radish, beating cake made of sticky rice, cool noodle, soup and dog meat.

A decent family has clear rules for men and women about who is in charge of the outdoor work and indoor work. Commonly, husband is elder than wife because Chaoxian people hate to marry same-aged. One of the most important social philosophies is to respect the aged person in Chaoxian traditions. Once parent died, elder brother has the responsibility to bring up his little brother and sister until they set up families.

Jumping the springboard and playing the swing are two traditional games of Chaoxian girls. And wrestling and football are boys' favorites.
Not only in the festivals, but also in the family celebrations, children or grandparents all enjoy themselves by playing long drum, dancing and singing.
