Not only fish-fur is famous for the costume, but many other beast fur clothes prevail in Hezhens' area. Wula, a kind of shoes, is also made by beast furs to keep warm in winter.

Hunting is the main economic mode of production. The captures are the main resources for the necessity. They accumulate experiences on hunting. They can chase beast in snow with high speed.
On the bank of comely Wusulijiang River, huge nets are hunged in front doors of every family, the smell of dried fish goes out in air. After every solar terms of Bailu, it is the season for Hezhen people to catch big salmon. They make groups to ship on the sparking waves, and with several times to spread nets, it will be a harvest day.
Leather production, iron production and wood ware are family work.

'Wurigong' means joy. On every July or August, the Hezhen people will hold 'Wurigong collection' to cerebrate. They perform fishing songs, dance swan dance, besides sports competition is important.

On the every of Chinese traditional New year, a family will grind wheat flour, fishing, paste paper designed flowers on windows and make paper Chinese lantern. They change their clothes. At night, every family will burn sacrifice to the dead. On the first day of New Year, they will make jiaozi at early morning and worship the three last generations. They also pray for god. On the morning, the juniors will greet the seniors, and then go out to pay New Year calls to every other family. Killing fresh fish is to serve the distinguished guests. Also some other food is special made for fesival. All kinds of entertainment are also held on the joyful time.

'Yimakan' is a kind of saying and singing folk culture. No musical instrument accompany the rhyme long story. The content of which tells their heroes and love stories.
'Shuohuli' is a kind of folk story by narration, the content of which depend on fables, fair tales or legend stories. It is illuminated short and lively story and normal it is told by an elder to children.

They are apt at singing and dancing. Music instrument of 'Kongmuhangei' and 'Kouxianqian' are transported from ancient times. The former has been lost, the late can be kept in mouth, but now few can play it.

Decorative pattern makes good. They embroider kinds of designs all around their clothes, hats and so on. Painting and carving are also outstanding, the design of which is elegant and graceful. Their paper-cut is also outstanding for animation and national character.
