kind of famous lacquer, with black grounding and red and white design, is
small and exquisite, bright and clean, and lovely, which is from hands of
the clever Primis'. The clever Primi people live in Yunan and Sichuan.
which is called 'Mu leng fangzi'. A square pole is set in the principal room, which is called 'prop up the sky'. The upper floor is for living, and the downstairs is for livestock. Doors is toward east. A bone of a cow or a sheep is hanged on the door to prevent evil.
Though they have not their own words, but they accumulate lots of experience in many fields. They accumulate lots of experience of production and scientific knowledge, but not make a good systemic research. A village is often according to the kindred relationship, and twenties or maybe two or three can be a village. They are hospitable people. Ghee tea and
fried flour are for the guests, hot cooked mutton are waiting to be enjoyed.
The masters will start to eat only after the guests have enough.
Their own festivals are the Big New year, the Big Fifteen Festival and Degusting New Festival. The Big New Year is Spring Festival. A clan will offer sacrifice to Kitchen
King, and many entertainment sports will be held, such as competing horse
skill, shooting, wrestling, jumping high and kicking shuttlecock. Degusting New Festival is to celebrate harvest. When they gain harvest,
they will brew new wine and sacrifice to ancestors, and then make a treat
to relatives and friends with new rice.
Corn is the staple-food. They are addicted to tea, cigarette and wine.
They believe in Tinba, but some of them believe in Buddha. Besides, they also worship nature and many gods. They take every natural things as spirits. On occasion of festivals, marriage, bearing a baby, going out, and others, they will invite wizards to offer sacrifice.
The area of the Primi nationality can be told the village of poetry. Early in the East Han Dynasty, a famous poem of white wolf was spread around and edified lots of famous singers. Commonly, the Primi people can sing improtu, and the coming-down poems are essential. The folktales oriJingated from lives, are developing lively stories. The folksongs mirror the marriage, funeral, festival and love stories. The dances tell about cultivation, hunting and weave. The skills of painting and carving are controlled by lamas and woodworkers.
