Qiang, distributes in Aba Zang Autonomous State in Sichuan Province. Corn is the main crop. Snow soy is a kind of white bean, which is a kind of famous speciality. Economic crops are famous for good quality. Livestock raising is developing. Many treasure medicine can be found there. Mineral resource is abundant.


No matter men or women they normally wear long shirt with sheepskin covered outside. They wrapped headband and tangle leg wrappings. Women's clothes are decorated with lace, silver decoration is inlayed around collar, they tie flowery waistband and they have drawn needle embroidered shoes.

The traditional houses are built by irregular stones. At first, the houses is for defense, with development, the houses come into living house. A house building is often two or three storied, the first floor is for livestock, the second is for living, and the third is for food. This kind of house is firm and useful.

A lot of taboos exist. Meat of a horse, a pig or a cattle is forbidden. If a family has a patient, a piece of red cloth will be hanged on the gate way, and a visitor should stop. If a husband or a wife is dead, the living other one should not remarry in two years.

Suspend a dog to sacrifice mountains.

This is traditional at Dongxiang Tumen, Maowen Qiang Autonomous County, in Aba Zang Autonomous State, Sichuan Province. It is held on every lunar agenda January and lasts seven days. Before is comes, a white dog is fed well. And on the day of sacrificing mountains, people collect in front of a big white stone which represent Mountain Gods to hold a ceremony and hang the dog on a tree to pray for happy.

Reward gods

It is held on October. A wizard will knock on sheepskin drum when dancing. After rewarding gods, they have a meal. Women is prohibited for this festival.
