In the middle of Gansu Province, lives long history of Yugur ethnic minority
nationality. The colorful costume is full of character. A man always have
a long gown with red or blue waistband; and wear a white terai in summer
and autumn. When it is in winter, no matter men or women wear windsnow hats
and have high canister shoes. A woman is also wear long gown with embroidered
design. The long gown is normal in green or blue; a bright color jacket
be worn out the long gown. She also wear a hat with decoration of lace,
flowery design. Women in attire wear wide edge hats with red big tassel.
Yugurs' are kind to visitors and keep custom of toast. Ghee tea is to welcome a guest, and he will be invited to eat grasping food and be toasted a double. Because of a stock raising nationality, they have over three times tea and a meal a day. The staple-food is rice and flour and non-staple foodstuffs are milk
and meat. There is not only for drink but also to fulfill stomach. A wedding ceremony is very joyful. The bride's family takes it important to accompany. They ride horse or camels. in the way, the bridegroom will present Hada to the bride's friend and relatives, after then they go to the bridegroom's house. During the course, many chasing acts bring happiness. They carry on nature bury and burning bury. When a nature bury, the dead will be pulled down from cliffs to present to the nature. When a burning bury, the dead body will be binding into shape of a embryo, which they called passing away, and then the body will be put into a coffin made by a piece of white cloth to be burned.
New Festival is the most important. Every family clear house in and out, prepare food, firecracker, ghee light, and so on. A whole family will sit around to have family reunion dinner; and then they celebrate a new year coming with happy songs. On New Year Day, they sacrifice to gods. Jiaozi is for breakfast. Visiting friends and relative are beJingning.
