Dragon Made of Wooden Benches

The celebration the Lantern Festival is carried as a tradition for many years in Pujiang Town of Zhejiang Province from 1th to 15th of the first month according to the lunar calendar.
All of the activities of the celebration are organized by the local people at their own expenses, because it is a pride to pay for such program to the sponsor. Especially the "dragon dance" is the funnest game.

Long long ago, the horrible drought attacked the town and nothing was changed although the people sacrificed times. Until a dragon in the east sea supplied a rain without the permission from the God. People was saved and he was punished by cutting several parts. For bringing back his life, people connected the benefactor with wooden benches and walked around the town. Then the tradition of wooden dragon is passed by generations.

Usually a dragon are connected more than 80 benches by sticks, and each stick is holding by a man. The body of "dragon" is decorated by the colorful lanterns with different designs.
On the 15th of the first month of lunar calendar, villagers follow the dragon and go around the village for praying the good future.
