Voduns Cult in Benin

  3. On the 10th of every January, voduns get together in the big city in Benin to honor their protective gods.  
   
  4. During a trance, a woman possessed by vodun Heviosso receives the oracle's and passes it on to the community.  
   
  5. Every year, in the village of Zogbeji, the adepts of Heviosso get together to honor the god of thunder.  
   
  6. During a vodun ceremony everybody dances together: priest, worshipers, the crowd, this way to celebrate vodun and to call to him.  
   
  7. A priest, dressed in red, the color dedicated to Heviosso, thunder god. This vodun makes justice suing the lightning.  
   
  8. Dedicated to Heviosso, this vodun, covered with iron and blood, has the power to punish thieves and witches.  
   
  9. During a vodun ceremony, drums are essential. They give rhythm to the dancers and call the gods.  
   
  10. At Tori Bossing, the vodun Heviosso cult uses fire as a heavenly power coming from the thunder.  
   
  11. During the eremony celebrating the retreat, the novices mime the life to come.  
   
  12. This is the ceremony where the novices go out of the convents after a retreat of three months during which they learn about the voduns divinities and the rituals.
