There will be temple fairs in a period after the Chinese new year in lot's of the rural villages in the north of the two Shanxi provinces. The activities are different in types and contents according to the local environment, customs, traffics, and so on. The temple fairs are character in culture and the villages holding the fairs can reach rather a few, and once there were 83 villages that held a fair. The fair that I attended was hold by 35 villages, and for every village, it can only hold such a fair in every 35 years. Temple fairs are important in the folklore. during the days, they visit relatives and friends, make business, pray for health，talk about marriage for girls and boys.
