| The Gion Matsuri Festival is yearly celebrated in Kyoto, Japan. It all started in 869 when Gion, a district of Kyoto, was threatened by an epidemic disease. The priest of the Yasaka Temple ordered all young men to draw a holy shrine through the streets. The epidemic disappeared and since the festival takes place every year. |
