Chagan Lake is situated in Qianguoerluosi Mongol autonomous county, Songyuan, Jilin Province. Water in the lake covers an area of over 420 square kilometers, one of the largest freshwater lakes in China . Spectacular fishing in winter in Chagan Lake is the only traditional hunting way in northern China . When the air temperature falls to minus 30 degrees, in the thick fog on the ice, fishermen break the ice and throw the net into the water and then collect the net with the capstan driven by horses, led by the head fisherman. A net with more than 200,000 kilograms¡¯ fish on the ice turns a mountain of fish.
